How did you build your first budget as a student?

I just started college and I keep overspending on eating out and random stuff. How did you set up your first budget in a way that you actually stuck to it?

I use the 50/30/20 rule. 50% on needs (rent, groceries), 30% on wants (eating out, fun), 20% to savings. I also automated my savings so it happens before I can spend it.
