Open work permit: Work for any employer. Closed work permit: Specific employer only. PGWP (Post-Grad): For international students after graduation. Co-op work permit: For required internships.
Check if you need a permit
International students can work 20 hours/week during semester, full-time during breaks without separate permit (must have valid study permit). Some countries have IEC/Working Holiday agreements.
Apply before your current permit expires
PGWP: Apply within 180 days of graduation. Provide transcripts, program completion letter, valid study permit. Takes 2-4 months. You have implied status while waiting.
Know your work permit conditions
